It’s Feeling Like Fall

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

       The weather is finally cooling down here in Dallas that I can say “It’s Fall.” And by that I mean, its been in the 60’s in the mornings, and we need to wear jackets. I made a Pumpkin Chili Recipe a couple weeks ago, even though it was still 90 degrees. It was good, but I think I’ll enjoy it even more so when I’m cozied up with a warm sweater. Ahhhh, that sounds so lovely!

        Now that the kiddos are getting a little order, it’s been so fun to start some family traditions and see them get excited about doing all these new activities. This is the first year we are going to attempt trick or treating in our neighborhood, it may not last longer than 20 minutes but I’m still looking forward to it!

         Maybe soon I will actually get a sibling picture of them BOTH looking at the camera??

We’ve been enjoying more afternoon park days as well, which is so good for all of us mentally and physically to get out after naptimes. The swing and slides have been big hits lately!

           Friday night dinners out have also been a new thing as of late….which is largely due to the fact that once Friday hits,  I don’t want to cook anymore! Thankfully we live in a very family friendly town as the meals don’t last longer than an hour and usually involve one or two fussy children at some point.          Sweet little Charlie is also going through a “I love Mommy” and a “I want to test all my boundaries with Mommy” phase. Literally yesterday morning she picked up her box of hair bows looked at me and threw it on the ground. Then 30 minutes later was crying for me at preschool drop off. These little toddlers sure have a lot of emotions and opinions. So we are working on how to successfully cope with this stage. It is tough!

A friend of mine recommended this book below. Of course I’m only on like page 10, but it seems like it will have some good information!

On the workout front, I’m still doing a combination of running, Pop Pilates, and Tone it Up routines. At home workouts are my jam and what work with our family schedule.

Since the weather is cooling down, I want to up my running mileage and potentially look into a 10K in the next few months. I miss having something to train for, and signing up for a race always holds me accountable to push for that extra mile.

3 Goals For Fall

Ahhhhh, my favorite time of year….pumpkin lattes, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies, boots, and scarves. Here’s to hoping I can wear these soon, considering it is still 75-80 degrees here in LA.


I was inspired by the Tone it Up Frisky Fall Challenge to set some goals for myself this season. Fall is a perfect time to reset and focus on healthy habits before the craziness of the holiday season.

Practice Yoga1x/Week


Over the weekend a girlfriend and I went to a lululemon free community yoga class. It felt great to say the least. I could tell I was a little out of practice, but it’s seriously amazing how relaxed my mind and body feel afterwards. I talk about how great Yoga is constantly, yet I’ve been slacking on taking that time to myself lately. Luckily, I still have my online membership to My Yoga Works, so I have no excuse. And I figure if I tell the blog world, then I have to do it! 🙂

Live in the Moment

I am the WORST at this. I blame part of it as being a woman, as we are all innate planners but sometimes I wish my brain would just turn down a notch.  At times I worry too much about things I have no control over and that can take away from really enjoying the moment. My hubby is really good at this, and I’m trying to let that part of his personality rub off on me.  Hopefully yoga can help out with this as well.

Read More Books

This is likely going to go out the door once the holidays hit. Books have always been a great escape from reality and are a much better use of time than watching tv or playing on social media. I’d love to find a book club to join, as that will keep me on track. We’ll see!

I’ve heard a lot about this book recently and saw it at Target the other day and bought it, so I hope I like it! 🙂

My Workouts This Week

I’ve been slacking a little bit on sharing my workouts with you guys! I love reading what other people are doing for workouts, so I’ll try to be better about posting my routine more regularly. 🙂

Although not much has significantly changed in what I’m doing…..(still running and taking barre or yoga classes when I can). I know it’s a good idea to switch up my workouts to keep my body guessing, but honestly most of the time I feel comfortable with what I’m doing and don’t want to branch out.

The at-home workouts are pretty tough when puppy is around, she tries to join in by jumping on me and I’m finding that to be a little counterproductive. So, I’m trying to squeeze those in before I pick her up from daycare. Such a little cutie.



Let’s rewind to last week:

Sunday: Pop Physique class. Phew. Kicks my butt every time. My legs were pretty much shot the rest of the day.


Aren’t these pants cute? Spotted them in the lobby after class. Loving the spring colors!

Monday: Mondays are the toughest days for me to get in a workout. I find myself just wanting to relax when I’m home from work and get myself back in work-mode for the week.

Tuesday: Paisley and I ran to Hermosa Beach, about a 4 mile run.

Wednesday: Mini-strength routine at home. I didn’t follow a specific routine (because I was half-watching tv with hubby)

I did 30 reps of dips, shoulder raises front & sides, bicep curls, and bent over rows. Also, 2 sets of 20 lunging scissor jumps.

Thursday-  Another run with miss Paisley. This time we did a fast 3 mile run plus some stairs.

Friday– Day Off! Went to happy hour with some girl friends.

Saturday– A slow 3 mile run. I actually didn’t want to work out at all today, no specific reason I just wasn’t that into it. But we are having friends over tonight and I didn’t want Paisley to be too annoying so I thought it was best to get her some exercise. 🙂

Side note, I really love The Tone it Up girls . They definitely have my dream job. Anyways, I printed off a couple of their workouts and plan on going through them this week.

Life with a Puppy

Life has been pretty hectic this past week and the thanks goes to this little munchkin, Paisley. (We named her after Brad Paisley 🙂 )


Yep I’m officially a mommy of a furry little girl.


Such a cutie.

Hubby and I had talked about getting a puppy for awhile and when we actually went to look, everything just seemed to fall into place. And quickly. When we saw her in person, I knew there was no way we weren’t taking her home that night.

This is a picture of our new family of 3 on her first day.

012Hubby grew up with dogs, but this is the first time for me to be a doggy mom. And Boy it is A LOT of work. Phew.  I’m currently writing this post standing with my computer on top of my ironing board so she doesn’t try to eat the cords or my computer at that.

After 1 week with Paisley I have learned:

  • I probably won’t ever sleep in past 7 am 😦
  • My shoes will never be left on the floor
  • I need to make sure the puppy harness is on tight enough when I take her on a walk (woops)
  • I will savor the moments when puppy is napping
  • My floors will always have chew toys on them
  • I’m so so happy to have my new furry little friend


Workouts have been tough during the week because we both want to spend as much time with her as possible. And if hubby is working out at night, I don’t want to leave her at home all alone. So, we have been trying to coordinate our schedules.

I was trying to do squat jumps the other night and Paisley thought I wanted to play with her so she started jumping up too. LOL. Too bad I don’t have a video of that one.

This week I plan on doing some of the Tone it Up at home workouts (while puppy is asleep) and go on a run when hubby is home.  I also think it’s time for me to invest in some new workout dvd’s like Pure Barre or Physique 57.

Any pet owners want to share some puppy training tips? I’m open to everything and anything! 

How do you get workouts in with a brand new puppy?
