What Made Me Smile This Week

Happy November everyone!!

And no, I don’t believe it. I’m currently sitting in a t-shirt and shorts as it is 70+ degrees right now. Oh Texas, always keeps it interesting.

But guys, I am so excited for the holidays this year.  A lot of this has to do with the fact that Charlotte is able to participate and understand a little more about Christmas season. There are SO many kid friendly activities around our neighborhood and I’m making my list of to-dos already. 🙂

Halloween

The cutest Dorothy and Lion I have ever seen. {I know I’m a little biased, but they are pretty adorable!} This was the first time we went Trick or Treating door to door, and I wasn’t sure how it would go. They got the hang of it real quick once they realized they get candy after saying “trick or treeeaaaat.”

Starbucks Holiday Cups

I know, I know. It’s not Thanksgiving yet, but I can’t help but get sucked into all the seasonal fun!

Pop Pilates Park Classes

In addition to teaching at a corporate gym 2x a week, I also started teaching Pop classes at a park in town! Everyone that has taken so far, has loved the class, which makes me SO happy. Plus having some “me time” to start off the weekend is excellent.

New Book

Source

I know it takes me sooooo long to finish a book these days, but I’m stoked about this one.  My library has it, and having a deadline will hopefully keep me more accountable in my reading management. The last book I read was “The Couple Next Door”  by the same author, and I loved it.  I’m sure this one will be a page turner as well! Below is a quick summary taken off the Amazon site:

Karen and Tom Krupp are happy—they’ve got a lovely home in upstate New York, they’re practically newlyweds, and they have no kids to interrupt their comfortable life together. But one day, Tom returns home to find Karen has vanished—her car’s gone and it seems she left in a rush. She even left her purse—complete with phone and ID—behind.

There’s a knock on the door—the police are there to take Tom to the hospital where his wife has been admitted. She had a car accident, and lost control as she sped through the worst part of town.

The accident has left Karen with a concussion and a few scrapes.  Still, she’s mostly okay—except that she can’t remember what she was doing or where she was when she crashed. The cops think her memory loss is highly convenient, and they suspect she was up to no good.”

That’s all for now. Thank you for stopping by!

What is something that’s making you smile this week??

A Fitness Instructor’s Favorite Things

Hello there!

Well, we officially have 15 days until Christmas……..are you ready?? Don’t worry, I’m not either. All I have to say is thank goodness for Amazon Prime and that I don’t have a ton of people to shop for. 🙂

Today I wanted to take a peek into some must-haves for a fitness instructor- whether you teach classes everyday or just once a week….

Yoga Pants

This is a no-brainer, but has to be included. Since I teach Stroller Strides classes and am a SAHM, I LIVE in yoga pants. I need something that I can wear for most of the day- after class running errands etc. I’ve tried so many different brands out there, but I have to say my favorite brand of late Is Beyond Yoga. They are THE MOST comfortable pants I have ever worn, seriously. Try some on and you won’t be disappointed.

A Cute Pullover

To go along with the yoga pants, for me, I don’t have time to shower and change immediately after teaching class. So, I need something that is comfy but cute enough to wear out and about. I love that so many fitness brands sell things that can be wear outside of the gym and the studio.

 Comfy Shoes

My shoes are on their last legs, so I’m currently on the hunt for a new pair…soon! 🙂

Headbands

My classes are usually in the AM, so I don’t have time to do my hair and I also figure…..what’s the point?  So, a headband can hide my lack of hair style. My favorite brand is Sweaty Bands because they are cute AND they actually stay on my head!

Dry Shampoo

Refer to previous statements as to why this is a necessity. 🙂

Power Bars

I’m always hungry and snacking, so I keep a granola bar in my bag at all times.

Water bottle

I carry one with me at all times, whether I’m teaching or not. My favorite brand of late is Contigo because the water actually stays cold….score!

And that’s all I have!

Is there anything you would add to the list??

Also, for those of you that follow me on Instagram– you may have seen my post that we are expecting a baby boy this Spring! I’ll dedicate an entire post with more details very soon! 🙂

Alright friends, have a great Thursday!!

Returning to Group Fitness

Starting in July I will officially be back to teaching group fitness….yay! I had a hiatus the last couple of years and have really missed it. I’m thankful to have the opportunity and even better, Charlotte gets to come with me to class!

She’s pretty stoked about the whole thing.

Through Fit4Mom, I’ll be teaching Stroller Strides and occasionally Fit4Baby classes. I’m super passionate about pre/post natal fitness, so I am very excited to be a part of this company. Since I’m already certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), I only needed to pass an online exam to become certified to teach. Yay!

Fit4Mom programs include Stoller Strides, Stroller Barre, Body Back and Fit4baby. So many fun classes to choose from no matter what stage you are at in your pregnancy or mommyhood. (Type in your zipcode and see if there are any classes in your area)

A unique component to Stroller Strides is designing a workout that engages the kids as well as giving the mommas a kick butt workout. The workout is a little more than just cardio and strengthening, we sing songs and play games with the little ones.  I love the creativity involved and know there can’t be any way I could get bored teaching this class.

When we moved to Dallas, I had every intention of finding a stroller fitness class that I could take and eventually teach. Such a great way for moms to get out of the house, get back into exercise, and not having to worry about a sitter for the kiddos.

meetups

source

I started taking classes in January and fell in love with the workout as well as getting the chance to meet moms in my area. Each Stroller Stride location holds weekly Meetups and playgroups, all free to join! These are wonderful if you are new to a city or just want to meet people in your area! We’ve gone to a few meetups, Charlie is usually sleeping through them, but soon enough she will be able to participate!

I’m finishing up my team teaching the next couple of weeks and then I’ll be officially on my own. Woo! I’m glad they aren’t making me rush back into it too quickly as I’m feeling more confident with everything each week. I’ll be sure to report back after teaching my first class!

Have you ever taken a stroller fitness class?

Do you like to workout with your little ones?

Thanks for stopping by friends! ~M
