A Baby Free Weekend

Hello Blog Friends!

It’s been a busy month and I’ve neglected the blog a bit, per the usual! 🙂

A couple of weekends ago, The Hubby and I went to Austin for an adult weekend! This was the first time we’ve left her for more than 1 night!! Of course I missed her and checked in on her often, but it was good for us to have a baby free weekend….and not have to carry the diaper bag around for a couple days. 🙂

This was my first time visiting Austin, so I was excited to check out the city! We got in around dinnertime the first night, so we dropped off our stuff at our rental house and headed out to eat!

I’m seriously always craving Mexican food…cheese and meat, mmmmm!

We found this cute Tex Mex restaurant and I think I ate an entire bowl of queso before the meal arrived. Oops.

After dinner, we walked around a bit and found this cute rooftop with an awesome view of the city. The hubby had some drinks and I sipped on my water before I was back in bed by 11 (which is really late for me!!)

Luckily we woke up to some sunshine!!

I’m obsessed with local coffee shops and was happy we found this one. Mozart’s Coffee is located on Lake Austin and has a huge patio outside- (it’s close to the UT campus so there were a lot of college kids taking over the tables studying). Luckily we found a spot in the sun and took our time people watching and drinking our morning coffee. I love mornings like that. And when did college kids start looking so young?!

After our coffee date, we headed over to South Congress Street to walk around. Since the weather was so gorgeous, we wanted to be outside as much as possible! We found a cute little farmer’s market and walked around there for a bit!

There are food trucks galore in Austin- seriously everywhere. I think you could get away with eating all meals from a food truck!

This one was by far my favorite! Yum!

For dinner that evening we went to the Laundrette. It is tucked away in the middle of a neighborhood and was converted from an old laundromat. Super cute and good food.

The next morning, I was anxious to get back to Miss Charlotte, so we stopped by one more coffee shop before we hit the road.

I love all the fancy lattes!

Of course the weekend went by so fast and we were reunited with this cutie pants before we knew it!

I’m busy enough with teaching Stroller Strides, working at Pure Barre, and keeping up with Charlotte…..well I decided to add something else to my plate! This month I started as a consultant for Rodan+Fields, which is a skincare line created by the two doctors that founded ProActive. It’s been overwhelming, exciting, scary but also really fun so far! {And don’t worry, this blog won’t turn into a Rodan+Fields marketing blog}, I just wanted to share what else is going on in my life and keeping me busy!

I use the products myself and really enjoy them so it’s easy to get behind this company! 🙂 If you are interested or know someone that would be feel free to check out my site listed below. There are products for anything and everything!

Alright blogger friends, that is all for now….hope to be back soon than later with another pregnancy update, I’ll be 28 weeks this weekend!!

Have you taken any weekend trip lately?

Any cities you would like to visit?

Catching Up

Life has been busy busy lately, which has left me feeling too tired and lacking creativity to do much blog posting. And we just got back from a trip, so that kept me away from the computer.

Hubby and I spent a long weekend away in Dallas visiting family and friends and it was just what I needed. Work has been busy and it was fabulous to get a little break and catch up with all of our Texas people. Here’s some pics I snapped while we were away:

Highland Park. The cutest  little neighborhood near downtown Dallas full of trees and perfect houses. Love it.

I was able to sneak in a little bit of shopping and at an outdoor mall? Even better.

Hubby and I out at dinner. We are matching in blue, lol!

Lunching with some friends and eating some awesome Tex-Mex food. Yummy.

Hubby and his best friends reunited, how cute!

016Me and my lady friends. They are so sweet!

I was able to fit in one run which was nice since we ate a lot. I’m happy to be home and to get back to my workout routine. I just finished a little run with the pup this afternoon and had to stop to take some shots at the beach….I swear, this view never gets old.

Hubby and I are thinking of getting back on the half marathon train in the next couple months. I haven’t ran a half in way too long (since before we moved to LA, yikes) and I’m ready to get back into shape and into training mode. I’ll keep you all posted!

Thanks for reading!

When In Vegas…

Happy Tuesday All!

Or the case of the Tuesdays, same difference.

It’s always a bit of an adjustment getting back to the ‘ol work routine after some time off.  I feel like it takes an extra day to turn the brain back on. And, I wanted to stop by Starbucks this AM but was running a little late, so that did not happen. Boo!

Anywho I wanted to fill you all in on our Vegas trip. So much fun, but went by WAY too fast. We walked so much that my legs were actually a little sore yesterday, so I don’t feel bad about missing my weekend workouts.

Here’s some pics I took in no particular order: (Sorry the pics are a little blurry, blame the Iphone!)

The pink dress, woo!

MGM pool time. 77 degrees. Perfect

The girls before dinner

Last stop at the pool before leaving

I love walking around Vegas, there is so much to do and see. And when the weather is just right, you can’t beat it!

As fun as vacation is, I am always happy to get back to my sleeping and exercise routine (do I sound old or what?) I took it easy Monday night, but this is my workout plan the rest of the week:

Tuesday: 4 mile run with stairs (I’m doing a stair climb event in 2 weeks, eek, will fill you guys in on the details soon)

Wednesday: At home workout DVD- Mash Up Conditioning. Will be posting a review on this one soon, can’t wait to try it out!

Thursday: 4-5 mile run.

Friday: Rest Day

Saturday: Pop Physique class

Sunday: Hike with a friend

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Seattle Trip Recap

It’s funny how you can anticipate a trip for what seems like such a long time, and then POOF…it’s gone.

Whenever we head back to Seattle the agenda is jammed packed trying to squeeze in visiting family, friends and all of our favorite places.

We were only in town for 4 days, but I was still able to stop at a few of my Seattle favorite spots (and yes most of them revolve around food, don’t judge!)

First stop, Nordstroms Dowtown.

I’m so spoiled by this Nordstrom because all of the ones I’ve been to in California are so small! My mom and I did some damage there while hubby was having lunch with some friends. Love that place!

Ahh, next is the Matador!matador

Hubby and I used to live walking distance from here and we would go often (maybe a little too often). Yummy Tex-Mex food and awesome margaritas! I miss this place!

And then there’s the cupcakes! Another place I used to walk to a little too often. But I figure walking there cancels out the calories, right?

Tutta Bella. Best pizza ever, besides what I’ve had in Europe. Thin crust, non greasy, good cheese….yum, I can eat a whole pizza myself.

I slacked on taking pictures this trip, but here’s a couple of me and my friends.

Next we have Vegas in March with friends (yay!) and hopefully Dallas in May/June to see hubby’s family.

Now I can start planning for those….

Hope you have a great Monday!

Recent Happenings

I just realized I haven’t blogged since before I left for Seattle, woops!

Here’s some pictures to prove how busy I’ve been in my blogging absence 🙂

My trip back to Seattle was jam-packed- I did so much in the 3 days:  went to pike place market, went shopping downtown, spent time with friends and family, and ate a lot of food of course.

Of course the sun came out my last day in town! Figures! So happy I was able to visit, hoping to make another trip back late fall.

This weekend I checked out the Shape Magazine, “Shape up for Summer” event in Hermosa Beach.  I was browsing through last month’s issue and saw an ad for the event and was super excited that I could attend! Of course Jillian’s class was sold out by the time I signed up, but I was able to get into the “Burn & Firm” class taught by Andrea Orbeck- one of the trainers for the Victoria Secret Models.

The weather was perfect for an outdoor workout- a little overcast and about 60 degrees with a breeze.  We didn’t do much upper body exercises during the workout, so basically it was an entire hour of legs and butt- lots of lunges, squats, and plyometrics….I loved it BUT I’m having a difficult time moving around today.

I would have liked to try more classes- they also offered yoga and kickboxing- but everything was filled up by the time I signed up, so I’m lucky I got in!

Nothing beats sweating it out outside right in front of the ocean, it was a great way to start my weekend and it inspired me to write up a new Summer workout- I know I’ve been slacking on that- it’s in the works and I will be sharing one soon!

Have you ever done an outdoor workout class? What did you like or did not like about it??

Weekend in La Jolla

Weekend “get-aways” are my favorite.  Separating ourselves from the daily routine and being in different place is so necessary and relaxing.

We decided we needed a weekend away and since we haven’t been down to San Diego in awhile, that’s where we went. And it was a blast.

Our first stop (after dropping off our stuff at the hotel) was the beach of course!

We parked at the beach then walked around and took pictures (well that was mostly me). For some reason I could wander around and look at the beach for hours and not get bored. But after an hour we both got hungry and searched for our lunch spot.

So many options, but we stumbled along this restaurant/bar overlooking the shore. Pretty perfect. 010

We ate too much for lunch. Quac and chips + a fish sandwich. So yummy.

037Then we ate too much for dinner. I think I was too hungry to take a picture. Blogger fail.

Oh well.

Our server at dinner surprised us with tirimisu (sp?) on the house for dessert. (I usually don’t take pictures of my food, but everything was so pretty I had to).

The next morning we packed up our stuff from the hotel and headed back to the shore for breakfast before we hit the road.

027Shortly after we got home I went on a little 40 minute jog. It was slow but felt good to burn off some of those calories from the weekend of indulging.

Now we are off to catch up on our regular Sunday night shows (Girls, Shameless, Californication).

What is your favorite place for a weekend get-away?

It’s All About Perspective

Happy Happy Sunday! I’ve had a busy and relaxing weekend.  My parents were in town visiting from Seattle, so we’ve been pretty busy showing them around.

Friday I had to work until 4, so we just grabbed dinner close to our house.  Saturday I got in a 40 minute morning run, then we went to Manhattan Beach for lunch and to watch football.  And of course, took a walk out on the pier.  I swear this beach view never gets old.

Saturday night we had dinner in Santa Monica and had the most amazing appetizer! Bacon-Wrapped Dates with goat cheese and almonds. OMG. They were seriously amazing.  I’m going to try to re-create these at home too…..we’ll see how they turn out. 🙂 Obsessed.

This morning we got up early and headed to the Griffith Observatory.  My hubby and I haven’t been here yet, so I was really excited to see it.  It is a great spot that has a view of the entire city (hollywood, century city, downtown LA).  It was a little foggy, but we’re still glad we went.

I finally got to see the Hollywood sign! We have  lived here since March and haven’t made it to see the Hollywood sign yet, so now I’m happy! 🙂

We got back from lunch and I convinced the whole family to walk/run around a track in our neighborhood.  We all ate A LOT this weekend, so we everyone agreed they felt better after getting some exercise in.  Now we are back home and plan on grilling steaks and watching a movie.  Perfect end to the weekend.

Random tangent. (Just to warn you all, lol).

I was thinking the other day that when my parents come in town, they are going to think our 68 degrees weather is hot.  Because to them, (especially this time of the year), it is.  But for us living in Southern California, it’s not, and we’ll definitely see people wearing boots and scarves, because to them it’s cold.

It all comes back to perspective.

Such a simple thing, but makes a big difference in our moods, goals, and general outlook on life.  It got me thinking how I go through my daily routine.

*If I assume that everyone in LA isn’t friendly, then I’m probably going to have a hard time meeting friendly people.

*If I assume someone is going to be rude, then whatever they do I’ll take it as them being rude.

*If I assume that I’m going to have a stressful day at work, then stressful situations will find me.

I’m starting my New Years Resolution early this year and am going to try to change my perspective  everyday to a positive one.  This also ties into being happy and appreciating all the blessings and things I already do have.

When I run into a difficult situation,  my perspective will make a big difference in how I respond to it.  Just like the title in my blog, we live in a pretty world and we all need to start looking at it that way.

I think having this blog will help keep me on track, so that I can report back to you all on how I’m doing with this.

Thanks for listening, I know this post is a little all over the place, but that’s how my brain can be sometimes!

What did you do this past weekend?

Do you have any easy time keeping a positive perspective each day?

Later Party People.
