A Baby Free Weekend

Hello Blog Friends!

It’s been a busy month and I’ve neglected the blog a bit, per the usual! 🙂

A couple of weekends ago, The Hubby and I went to Austin for an adult weekend! This was the first time we’ve left her for more than 1 night!! Of course I missed her and checked in on her often, but it was good for us to have a baby free weekend….and not have to carry the diaper bag around for a couple days. 🙂

This was my first time visiting Austin, so I was excited to check out the city! We got in around dinnertime the first night, so we dropped off our stuff at our rental house and headed out to eat!

I’m seriously always craving Mexican food…cheese and meat, mmmmm!

We found this cute Tex Mex restaurant and I think I ate an entire bowl of queso before the meal arrived. Oops.

After dinner, we walked around a bit and found this cute rooftop with an awesome view of the city. The hubby had some drinks and I sipped on my water before I was back in bed by 11 (which is really late for me!!)

Luckily we woke up to some sunshine!!

I’m obsessed with local coffee shops and was happy we found this one. Mozart’s Coffee is located on Lake Austin and has a huge patio outside- (it’s close to the UT campus so there were a lot of college kids taking over the tables studying). Luckily we found a spot in the sun and took our time people watching and drinking our morning coffee. I love mornings like that. And when did college kids start looking so young?!

After our coffee date, we headed over to South Congress Street to walk around. Since the weather was so gorgeous, we wanted to be outside as much as possible! We found a cute little farmer’s market and walked around there for a bit!

There are food trucks galore in Austin- seriously everywhere. I think you could get away with eating all meals from a food truck!

This one was by far my favorite! Yum!

For dinner that evening we went to the Laundrette. It is tucked away in the middle of a neighborhood and was converted from an old laundromat. Super cute and good food.

The next morning, I was anxious to get back to Miss Charlotte, so we stopped by one more coffee shop before we hit the road.

I love all the fancy lattes!

Of course the weekend went by so fast and we were reunited with this cutie pants before we knew it!

I’m busy enough with teaching Stroller Strides, working at Pure Barre, and keeping up with Charlotte…..well I decided to add something else to my plate! This month I started as a consultant for Rodan+Fields, which is a skincare line created by the two doctors that founded ProActive. It’s been overwhelming, exciting, scary but also really fun so far! {And don’t worry, this blog won’t turn into a Rodan+Fields marketing blog}, I just wanted to share what else is going on in my life and keeping me busy!

I use the products myself and really enjoy them so it’s easy to get behind this company! 🙂 If you are interested or know someone that would be feel free to check out my site listed below. There are products for anything and everything!

Alright blogger friends, that is all for now….hope to be back soon than later with another pregnancy update, I’ll be 28 weeks this weekend!!

Have you taken any weekend trip lately?

Any cities you would like to visit?

Catching Up

Life has been busy busy lately, which has left me feeling too tired and lacking creativity to do much blog posting. And we just got back from a trip, so that kept me away from the computer.

Hubby and I spent a long weekend away in Dallas visiting family and friends and it was just what I needed. Work has been busy and it was fabulous to get a little break and catch up with all of our Texas people. Here’s some pics I snapped while we were away:

Highland Park. The cutest  little neighborhood near downtown Dallas full of trees and perfect houses. Love it.

I was able to sneak in a little bit of shopping and at an outdoor mall? Even better.

Hubby and I out at dinner. We are matching in blue, lol!

Lunching with some friends and eating some awesome Tex-Mex food. Yummy.

Hubby and his best friends reunited, how cute!

016Me and my lady friends. They are so sweet!

I was able to fit in one run which was nice since we ate a lot. I’m happy to be home and to get back to my workout routine. I just finished a little run with the pup this afternoon and had to stop to take some shots at the beach….I swear, this view never gets old.

Hubby and I are thinking of getting back on the half marathon train in the next couple months. I haven’t ran a half in way too long (since before we moved to LA, yikes) and I’m ready to get back into shape and into training mode. I’ll keep you all posted!

Thanks for reading!

When In Vegas…

Happy Tuesday All!

Or the case of the Tuesdays, same difference.

It’s always a bit of an adjustment getting back to the ‘ol work routine after some time off.  I feel like it takes an extra day to turn the brain back on. And, I wanted to stop by Starbucks this AM but was running a little late, so that did not happen. Boo!

Anywho I wanted to fill you all in on our Vegas trip. So much fun, but went by WAY too fast. We walked so much that my legs were actually a little sore yesterday, so I don’t feel bad about missing my weekend workouts.

Here’s some pics I took in no particular order: (Sorry the pics are a little blurry, blame the Iphone!)

The pink dress, woo!

MGM pool time. 77 degrees. Perfect

The girls before dinner

Last stop at the pool before leaving

I love walking around Vegas, there is so much to do and see. And when the weather is just right, you can’t beat it!

As fun as vacation is, I am always happy to get back to my sleeping and exercise routine (do I sound old or what?) I took it easy Monday night, but this is my workout plan the rest of the week:

Tuesday: 4 mile run with stairs (I’m doing a stair climb event in 2 weeks, eek, will fill you guys in on the details soon)

Wednesday: At home workout DVD- Mash Up Conditioning. Will be posting a review on this one soon, can’t wait to try it out!

Thursday: 4-5 mile run.

Friday: Rest Day

Saturday: Pop Physique class

Sunday: Hike with a friend

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Seattle Trip Recap

It’s funny how you can anticipate a trip for what seems like such a long time, and then POOF…it’s gone.

Whenever we head back to Seattle the agenda is jammed packed trying to squeeze in visiting family, friends and all of our favorite places.

We were only in town for 4 days, but I was still able to stop at a few of my Seattle favorite spots (and yes most of them revolve around food, don’t judge!)

First stop, Nordstroms Dowtown.

I’m so spoiled by this Nordstrom because all of the ones I’ve been to in California are so small! My mom and I did some damage there while hubby was having lunch with some friends. Love that place!

Ahh, next is the Matador!matador

Hubby and I used to live walking distance from here and we would go often (maybe a little too often). Yummy Tex-Mex food and awesome margaritas! I miss this place!

And then there’s the cupcakes! Another place I used to walk to a little too often. But I figure walking there cancels out the calories, right?

Tutta Bella. Best pizza ever, besides what I’ve had in Europe. Thin crust, non greasy, good cheese….yum, I can eat a whole pizza myself.

I slacked on taking pictures this trip, but here’s a couple of me and my friends.

Next we have Vegas in March with friends (yay!) and hopefully Dallas in May/June to see hubby’s family.

Now I can start planning for those….

Hope you have a great Monday!

Trip Planning

I’m so excited to be going to Seattle later this week! Woo!

It’s going to be super busy fitting in family and friends, but it’s going to be so fun to visit some of my favorite places.

AND the weather forecast is looking pretty good so far…75 degrees one of the days!

My trip is definitely going to revolve around food- one of the days I’m meeting different girlfriends for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Lol.  I’m hoping to get in lots of working out this week because I’m not going to have much time at all once I get up to Seatown.

Oh and I’m of course making a stop at one of my favorite Seattle places……

You do burn some calories with shopping right?? And carrying heavy bags? Ha, we’ll see.

Hubby is going to be home in Cali with puppy….this is going to be the longest amount of time away from her yet….lol.

I know I’m going to miss this little face…..I’ll make sure hubby sends me lots of picture updates. 🙂

But I must say it’s going to be nice to not have a 6am wake-up call for a few days….

Now off to do the exciting task of folding laundry and packing…..wish me luck.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

Desk Stretches

Happy Saturday All!

I’m slowly getting back into my normal routine since returning from our trip.  I woke up early went to my Bar Method class, got a Pumpkin Spiced Latte (I really missed these when I was gone- I don’t think Europeans are as obsessed with pumpkin as we are here), and now I’m back home doing some laundry and cleaning up.  The hubby really missed watching football the past 2 weeks while we were away, so we’ll be finding a bar later tonight to do just that. 🙂

After surviving (barely) our 12 hour flight home earlier this week, it got me thinking about all the poor people that have to sit at a desk all day.   When we got home from the flight my body felt very tight and uncomfortable.  So, I wanted to share a few simple stretches that you can try at work to relieve some of the tension and stress.   It may also be helpful to stretch spontaneously throughout the day any area of the body that feels tense for a minute or two.  Hold all the stretches for 30-60 seconds.

Hamstring Stretch

The sitting position puts the hamstrings in its shortest position, so after sitting for 8 hours, the back of your legs probably feel a little tight.  Stand up and place your leg on your chair, with your leg straight tuck your pelvis under and bend forward at your hip until you feel a stretch in the back of your leg.  The stretch should be held at the point you feel slight discomfort.

Chest Doorway Stretch

While staring at a computer all day you may also find your head forward and your shoulders are rounded, which puts your chest in a shortended position.  Stand in a doorway with one arm anchored in the door frame with arm bent at approximently 90 degrees, turn your body away (rotate your torso) until you feel a stretch in your chest and the front of your shoulder. Repeat on the opposite side.

Wrist Stretches

Lots of mousing and typing can also cramp up your forearms.   Hold your arm straight out in front of you, with elbow straight and your palm facing down.  Push down until you feel a stretch on the top of your forearm.  For the opposite muscle group, hold your arm straight out in front of you with your elbow straight and this time face your palm up towards the ceiling.  Pull back on the hand until you feel a stretch on the opposite side of your forearm.

I hope these help! Now here are some of my favorite pics from the trip!
