Exercise at 38 Weeks Pregnant

This will likely be my last post before I’ll have 2 kiddos under 2 at home. Oh boy! We’ve been super busy lately keeping up with Charlotte plus trying to get ready for the little man’s arrival (as ready as we can be).

I’m happy that I have made it this far into the pregnancy- (I had Charlotte and Declan at 34 1/2 weeks). Baby boy is definitely growing, but oh man I am starting to feel real uncomfortable. The last couple weeks is rough, especially when you already have a kid!! It’s way different than the first pregnancy when I could nap or sit down when I wanted to!

Sleep is getting tough, showering, getting dressed and picking up Charlotte is a lot of work! So, let’s just say I’m happy to have him here and not in my belly anymore! 🙂

 I never got around to getting any maternity pictures done with my first pregnancy, so we did a few this time and it was fun having my little love join in!

Little Miss has no idea she’s going to be sharing my attention real soon. Ha- should be interesting! Thankfully, Damon has 2 weeks off work and then my mom will be in town after that so I’ll have some good help the first month!

So…………Exercise.

Besides being able to sleep normally, I’m seriously craving a good workout. Like a good cardio, HIIT routine or a long run! Oh man, that sounds glorious!! The hubby is currently training for a 1/2 marathon and I’m so jealous. Of course I’ll be released to exercise again when it’s starting to get real hot and toasty here…..so that’ll be a shocker to the system.

It’s tough as I was just getting back into running shape and then found out I was pregnant again when Charlotte was about 6 months. So, I’ve had to slow it all down just when I was beginning to ramp back up. I am lucky that my doc has still okayed me to walk and take modified Pure Barre classes. As long as I’m not pushing myself too hard and I’m staying hydrated, he said I can go for it! Honestly it’s hard having to take so many breaks to catch my breath and just feeling overall fatigue. Like I wake up in the morning and my legs just feel heavy….probably has something to do with carrying that extra weight around! I’ve cut my walks down to about 15-20 minutes and I took Pure Barre only 2x last week. And don’t get me wrong, my barre classes are super modified, but it still feels good to somewhat move my body. These last couple of weeks, I’ve been trying to balance resting but letting myself move around as I won’t be able to for another 6 weeks!!

I don’t really have a point to get to so thanks for listening to me ramble on and on- ha!

29 Weeks Pregnancy Update

I can’t believe it took me this long to do another pregnancy update! I’m now officially in the 3rd Trimester, OMG. Time is flying!

29 weeks

I spy a cute little photo bomber!

I passed my Glucose test last week, so that takes some worry away! Apparently if I had failed that test, I’d have to do a 3-hour one. No Thank You!

So, let’s see what the little guy is up to (all info is from TheBump.com )

  • Baby is as big as an Acorn Squash, measuring 15.2-16.7 inches
  • Baby weighs 2.5- 3.8 pounds
  • The little guy could triple his weight before birth (oh man)
  • Baby is growing white fat deposits under his skin which can lead to a surge in energy
  • Baby could also begin hiccupping
 My Symptoms?
Overall, I don’t have much to complain about…besides the typical feeling tired and constantly
hungry.  I do notice I’m getting out of breath quicker and my back feels tired at the end of
the day, which I can attribute to lifting and chasing after Charlotte. She’s probably going to be
walking in the next month-ish so that’ll be interesting keeping up with her when I’m 30+ weeks
pregnant!
Workouts?
I’ve still be able to take Pure Barre Classes 2-3x a week, which is always feels SO great. I am
having to heavily modify abdominal work and obviously do plank and push-ups from my knees.
But besides that, I can go through arms, thighs, and seat with no problem!

I’m just thankful I can still get a good workout in.  The last month I have really
missed running, especially since I was just getting back into it after the last pregnancy. I plan on
taking classes as long as I can and of course listening to my doctor if he says I need to stop. And
of course I’m still taking the dog on walks- I’m sure they are slower than she would like but it’s
better than nothing! 🙂
Nursery?
We are in the process of getting that organized. I have some wonderful friends that have
donated tons of boy clothes to us, so the little man’s closet is filling up quick!
The theme for our nursery is Vintage Sports. (Not shocking, if you know my husband).
I found some really cute prints from Etsy and can’t
wait to hang them up!

We still need to find a changing table, changing pad, and some other little décor things for the
nursery. I’m going to try to get away with not buying a dresser and using some bins in the closet
for socks, hats, pants, and pajamas. Hopefully that works! 🙂

Pregnancy #2 Update

Hey Hey!

So this is kind of funny……I had written a ‘pregnancy announcement’ blog post last month and forgot to actually post it. Haha! We announced my pregnancy on social media but looks like I neglected the blog. Oopsie!!

So….let’s play catch up real quick!

  • We found out I was pregnant in September (Surprise!)
  • Charlotte was almost 7 months at the time (cue panic realizing they will be 14 1/2 months apart)
  • We decided to do an early blood test to find out the gender at 11 weeks……
  • And we found out we are having a….BOY!

So today I am just about 21 weeks. I can’t believe how fast it has gone by! Considering our experience with Declan, we are both feeling pretty optimistic and excited. Of course there is some anxiousness and worry after going through what we did last time, but it’s comforting that my doctor is confident and everything has been right on track.

Physically where am I at?

Definitely growing and way bigger than I was last time…which is funny considering I was carrying twins last pregnancy.

Once I got out of the 1st trimester, I haven’t had many complaints besides being tired and constantly hungry. Sleep has been better now since Charlotte is sleeping steadily through the night (6 nights in a row, woo hoo!)

I’m trying to take Pure Barre classes 2x a week and go on daily walks with the dog and stroller in tow. I was jogging up until a couple weeks ago, but stopped because I was just feeling heavy. So no more running for me for a little while! I’ll try to post a few more pregnancy updates as we go along!

Hey look, it’s Charlotte- the Smallest Big Sister ever. Ha!

32 Weeks Pregnancy Update

32 Weeks

It’s getting down to crunch time you guys, yikes!! At my last appointment the Doc said that on average twins come at 36 weeks and we won’t go past 38 weeks. Oh man, about a month left…babybump

Here’s what the babies have been up to this week:

  • They babies are now the size of a Squash.
  • They both weigh about 3 3/4 pounds and are 16.7 inches long. Definitely taking up more space!
  • I will be gaining about 1 pound per week and half of that goes to the babies!
  • They now have toenails, fingernails, and some real hair.

 

Here’s what has been going on with me this week:

Total Weight Gain: Not sure, I’ll find out at my next appointment.

Stretch Marks: Nope 🙂

Sleep: It has defnintley been broken up a little more. I always wake up once to use the restroom and sometimes to eat some cereal….those babies are hungry!!

Best Moment this week: Seeing the nursery almost all finished, we just need a couple more little things and we are ready….well technically anyways. 🙂

Workouts: Been slowing down a lot more the past couple of weeks. Still been walking miss Paisley daily, but at a much slower pace (which I’m sure she hates), and did my prenatal barre DVD at home a couple times.

Movement: I’m feeling more rolling types of movements than kicks, probably because their space is getting a little more cramped.

Food Cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary this week- cereal, milk, smoothies, and Queso….YUM!

Sick or queasy? Nope, thankfully!

Miss Anything: Being able to get up from sitting or lying down easily, wine, and not feeling so tired!

Looking forward to: Completely finishing up the nursery and my next prenatal appointment!

Being the planner that I am, I started packing my hospital bag so that will be one last thing to worry about when the time comes. I’ll share the deets once it’s all complete. I loved picking out their going home outfits….so fun!

Well that’s all on the pregnancy front for now….I’m enjoying my last month of quiet time and freedom but getting more excited for their arrival 🙂

28 Weeks Pregnancy Update

28weeks

The belly is growing! I have definitely noticed a difference the past 2 weeks, crazy!!

Baby’s Size: The baby’s weigh 2 1/4 pounds and are the size of large eggplants. The babies can now blink their eyes, have eye lashes, and might be able to see light that filters through the womb. (weird!!)

Total Weight Gain: Not sure, I go in next week for my glucose test (bleh) and a routine ultrasound so I’ll know where I’m at then!

Stretch Marks: None, thankfully. Still religiously using my belly cream morning and night!

Sleep: On and off. I move around a little more at night to get comfy and the last two nights had to get up and eat a snack…those babies sure are hungry! I’m becoming a good napper though, I guess I’m subconsciously training my body to sleep in shifts already!

Best Moment of the Week: Feeling more movement is fun, even if it is at 4am!

Miss Anything: Bending over comfortably….painting my toe nails is getting a little rough.  And of course wine, but I’m actually getting used to it and don’t miss it as much as a month ago!

Movement: Yep!

Cravings: Sugary cereals……captain crunch with berries has been my go-to. Yum!

Looking Forward To: Getting through the gluclose test next week and getting more organized with the nursery. I’ve ordered some cute pictures and a dresser and can’t wait to get the room set up!!

Workouts: I’ve been taking Paisley on some longer walks (about 30-35 minutes) since it’s been warmer out. The dog is definitely forcing me to keep my legs in shape which I like! I also did one of my Bar Method DVD’s at home and went to a Fit 4 Baby class. It’s nice to be in a class and not be the ONLY pregnant one! I do notice my energy can go up and down depending on the day, so I’m trying to listen to my body and rest when I need to.

I’m so thankful my pregnancy has been pretty great so far especially going into the third trimester. Hubby and I are taking a little “baby preparation” class at our hospital in a couple weeks, which I’m excited about….we both have NO idea how to swaddle a baby! Ha!

Pregnancy Week 24 Update

I’m learning that taking selfies is NOT one of my skills.

How Far Along? This pic was taken at 24 weeks and 2 days.

Baby’s size? 1 1/3 pounds.

What else is going on with the babies? They are almost a foot long and are the size of an ear of corn. Their brains are continuing to grow and their taste buds are starting to develop.

Total weight gain/loss: 15-18ish pounds

Stretch marks? None. Still using my belly cream 2x/day!

Sleep: I’m definitely moving around more at night, but once I fall asleep I’m usually out. Been falling asleep around 10pm and wake up between 6:30 and 7, when the hunger strikes and the dog is up!

Best moment this week: There hasn’t been one particular moment, but overall I’m so thankful that I’m feeling good and able to be relatively active still.

Miss Anything? Wine and being able to lie on my stomach.

Movement: Yep, noticing them at certain times during the day and bright and early in the morning…getting me prepared for the future I guess!

Food cravings: Nothing crazy this week, just food in general every few hours 🙂 Since I’m eating so often I’m really trying to snack on some healthy stuff like: carrots & hummus, apples & peanut butter, and yogurt and granola. That has been tough with the holidays lately, but I’m ready to get back on track!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

Gender: Boy and Girl! Smile

Symptoms: Besides the growing belly, just needing to use the restroom A LOT.

Workouts: I try to walk Paisley almost daily either 20-30 minutes depending on how I feel and how cold it is outside! Still been taking Pure Barre 2-3x/week….I am noticing more and more modifications I need to make throughout the workout, but I’m happy I’m still able to participate without any issues!

Belly Button in or out? It’s starting to push out more!

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy!

Looking forward to: Spending a relaxing weekend with the hubby (most of our moving in projects are finished) and watching football with friends on Sunday. And my next doctor’s visit is next week and I always look forward to those!

Pregnancy Update: Week 20

Hey Guys! I’m stopping in quick to share my week 20 update (trying to not let another month pass before doing another one) So let’s get right to it!20 weeks pic

I’d definitely say there is no more hiding the ‘ol bump!

Here’s what’s going on with the babes this week:

  • The babies are weighing in at about 10 1/2 ounces and are about the size of a banana
  • They are measuring at about 10 inches long from head to heels
  • The babes are swallowing more often now which is good for their digestive systems

Here’s what’s going on with me:

Weight Gain: I think about 10-12 pounds all together

Workouts: Considering how busy our lives have been the past couple of weeks, I have amazingly been able to walk/jog Paisley almost daily for about 20-30 minutes and started back at Pure Barre this week (hoping for 3-4x/week depending on how I feel).

Symptoms: Mostly just hungry every few hours, I always have some sort of snack with me at all times! I have started to feel some little fluttering in the belly, but no big kicks that can be felt from the outside just yet. And yes, I am still needing to go to the bathroom once each night. One of the babies is definitely sitting on top of my bladder…at least that’s what it feels like! Oh, and you can forget me staying up any later than 10pm.

Food Cravings: Still relatively the same….a cheeseburger always sounds good (but I’m not giving into that craving very often), cold cereal, and milk.

Food Aversions: Thankfully none!

Sleep: I’ve been moving around a little more to get comfy at night, but I think that can also be attributed to the fact that I’m not in my own bed just yet (one more week!)

Stretch Marks: None, still applying my belly lotions in the morning and night!

 Genders: A BOY and GIRL. I feel like we hit the jackpot right there 🙂

Baby Items Purchased: I’m planning on heading to the Baby Gap this week with a giftcard and picking out some stuff…finally!

Looking forward To: Organizing their nursery, feeling some more kicks and of course shopping for them!
