Some Good News

Our baby girl came home with us over the weekend! Hooray! Hooary!

Not to brag, but a week earlier than anticipated. ūüôā

Thankfully, she was only in the NICU for 2 1/2 weeks, and now I truly feel for people that have babies in there for months. Ugh, so emotionally and physically exhausting. Now I really feel like I have a baby, instead of just visiting one at the hospital each day.

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind, and things are obviously way different than we imagined them to be but at the same time we feel lucky to have such a cute little girl at home.

And Paisley finally got to meet her little sister!

You can tell in Paisley’s eyes that she is a little suspicious of our new family member. The poor dog had NO IDEA what she was and every time Charlotte would make a noise, she would whine.¬†I don’t think Paisley slept much this weekend either. ¬†We know it’ll take time and hopefully they will become best buds.

I’ll be back soon to share some more¬†updates¬†on our daily routine¬†and once I’m released to exercise again, what that looks like.

As always, thanks for stopping by!

Life Lessons from my Dog

Hello Everyone!

Today I’m sharing some¬†life wisdom I’ve learned from Paisley.

Never Stop Playing

Appreciate the Little Things-¬†Lying in bed after a long day with my hubby and dog is the absolute best and I’m pretty sure Paisley feels the same way.

Stop and Enjoy the Moment

Don’t Forget to Practice Yoga- I believe this is her version of the downward dog…nice form, huh?¬†¬†

Dress Up (yes we will get her a bigger jersey for next year)

What are some life lessons you’ve learned from your dog?¬†

Well, the half marathon training is going. ¬†Last week I was only able to get in two runs- one 4 miler and one 7 miler. The 7 was a little slower than I’d like, but I’m just glad to get those miles in. I’m thinking of adding in some sprint and interval workouts and see if I can get my speed up a little bit.

What are your tips for increasing your running speed? Please share!

Thanks for reading as always!! ~M

Life with a Puppy

Life has been pretty hectic this past week and the thanks goes to this little munchkin, Paisley.¬†(We named her after Brad Paisley ūüôā )

Yep I’m officially a mommy of a furry little girl.

Such a cutie.

Hubby and I had talked about getting a puppy for awhile and when we actually went to look,¬†everything¬†just seemed to fall into place. And¬†quickly.¬†When we saw her in person, I knew there was no way we weren’t taking her home that night.

This is a picture of our new family of 3 on her first day.

012Hubby grew up with dogs, but this is the first time for me to be a doggy mom. And Boy it is A LOT of work. Phew. ¬†I’m currently writing this post standing with my computer on top of my ironing board so she doesn’t try to eat the cords or my computer at that.

After 1 week with Paisley I have learned:

  • I probably won’t ever¬†sleep in past 7 am ūüė¶
  • My shoes will¬†never¬†be left on the floor
  • I need to make sure the puppy harness is on tight enough when I take her on a walk (woops)
  • I will¬†savor¬†the moments when puppy is napping
  • My floors will always have chew toys on them
  • I’m so so happy to have¬†my new furry little friend

Workouts have¬†been tough during the week because we both want to spend as much time with her as possible. And if hubby is working out at night, I don’t want to¬†leave¬†her at home all alone. So, we have been trying to coordinate our schedules.

I was trying to do squat jumps the other night and Paisley thought I wanted to play with her so she started jumping up too. LOL. Too bad I don’t have a¬†video of that one.

This week I plan on doing some of the Tone it Up at home workouts (while puppy is asleep) and go on a run when hubby is home. ¬†I also think it’s time for me to invest¬†in some new workout dvd’s like Pure Barre or Physique 57.

Any pet owners want to share some puppy training tips? I’m open to¬†everything¬†and anything!¬†

How do you get workouts in with a brand new puppy?
