Updated Family Photos

I’ve always loved taking pictures, hanging up pictures, and looking at pictures. And even more so now that we have Charlotte and Donovan!

One of my good friends down here is also an AMAZING photographer and we just had some done a few weeks ago. I can’t wait to print them and update the pictures around our house!!

Postpartum Body Thoughts

So did I really miss blogging the entire month of March?? Yep I did. Besides the kiddos keeping me very occupied, I have been busy finishing up my Pop Pilates certification and finding an instructing job- eek! I will share all the deets soon in a separate post, now that it’s official, and I will have my very own class starting in May!

Wiritng a post about my postpartum body has been on my mind for awhile. Being a fitness instructor and enthusiast, I feel like I should share my voice on this topic. In all honesty, it wasn’t until Donovan turned 10 months that I began to feel more like myself. I gained about 30 pounds during my pregnancy (that boy liked to eat and still does). The first 20 came off easily but the last 10 hung around for awhile. There were times I was frustrated as I’ve always been “in shape.”  Breastfeeding, not sleeping much, and taking care of 2 kids took a lot of time away from normal exercise routine.

It’s ridiculous how much pressure we put on ourselves to “get your body back” asap. I was basically pregnant for 2 years straight and SO anxious to get back to my pre-pregnancy self. Looking back, I tried to do too much too soon and didn’t just relax and just give myself time. I know it’s so much easier to say that versus actually live it! Instead of just taking a nap, sometimes I’d push myself to workout. Now I’m at a place that I want to work out because it feels good, not because I feel like I have to.

Right now I am working out about 4-5 times a week. I try to run 2x a week and do one HIIT routine (Tone it Up and Sarah Fit) and one Pop Pilates routine. The variety has been the best for my body. My diet has been a factor in losing the baby weigh as well, I try to eat pretty healthy during the week and then allow myself 2 cheat meals on the weekends. (I mean, I love queso and margaritas and won’t be giving those up anytime soon!) I’m no longer breastfeeding and feel like that was when the shift started to happen. Some people lose weight when they are breastfeeding but that wasn’t me. I was ALWAYS hungry and ate like I was training for a marathon at times. Again, Donovan likes to eat!

A Kid Update

 I’m in the process of planning Charlotte’s 2nd birthday and Donovan’s 1st…..so I thought it would be a good time to share what they are up to these days!!

Loves: Mr. Man loves pulling up to stand, cruising around on furniture and following around his sister. Oh and of course he still loves being held by Momma.

Food: We are just starting finger foods and he loves EVERYTHING.  So far we have tried bananas, sweet potatoes, rice, avocados, and pasta. I hope that his good eating will rub off on his picky sister!

Sleep: We still have our nights here and there, but generally D will sleep from 7 until 6! I’ll l take it!

Loves: This busy bee is hard to keep up with! Her favorite activities are running, jumping, and going down the slide at the park! She loves Elmo and sleeps with her doll for naps and at night. We are looking to sign her up for a little 2 year old gymnastics class very soon. I am pretty positive she will love it.

Foods: Her favorites right now are: strawberries, goldfish crackers, apples, yogurt, graham crackers, avocado toast and chicken nuggets. This girl is such a STUBBORN eater! I cannot wait until D is eating more food, I really think that will motivate her to add a little variety to her diet!

Sleep: This girl loves to sleep, I am so thankful! She is still taking one nap in the middle of the day {typically about 2 hours} and will sleep a good 12 hours through the night. Woo hoo.

It is SO cute to see them interacting more and more. Donovan loves to be around his sister, and Charlotte is starting to warm up to him. Although, she is not a fan of him touching her toys, but she’ll get used to it, right? 🙂

What I’m Loving Lately

Hello hello!

Look at me, carving out some time to do some blogging! I feel so out of the blogging loop these days but am back at reading my favorites and hopefully spending more time here!  Although, thanks to Instagram and Snapchat, I feel like I am still “in the know” with my favorite blogger peeps!

Anywho, today I wanted to highlight a few things I’m lovely lately!

We re-arranged our room and had huge empty wall space, so the hubby did some shopping! (Thank you, Amazon).  He must know me really well, picked this out all by himself! Love!

Oh Paris, I have yet to visit you, but I will.

RX Bars

Okay, I have tried pretty much all protein bars out there. Seriously. My go-to has been Cliff Bars, which are a little high in sugar (I know) but they are the only ones that I like and fill me up! I actually hadn’t heard of these until a friend of mine was snacking on one the other day. All the ingredients are listed on the front and they taste Good! I don’t see them at every grocery store yet but snagged some at Trader Joe’s the other day.

Blogilates Workout Videos

Um I just did the PIIT (Pilates Intense Interval Training) today. It was legit. I love the variety in her workouts and she has SO many online videos. Perfect to squeeze in during naptime when I can!

I’m Running Again!

I survived my first 6 mile run last weekend since…. gosh when I was pregnant with the twins. So it’s be a LONG time. I’m obviously slower than I want to be, but it felt great to get those miles in. For the longest time I wasn’t going above 3 miles!

 My poor dog is out of shape too- haha, so it’s good for both of us.

I do want to complete another half marathon soon, but don’t know if I’m ready to commit just yet. It would either need to be in the next few months or not until Septmeber/October bc I don’t want to do long runs in the summer heat. Yuck.

What, Who Me?

Okay I feel like this has been going on long enogh (3 weeks) so I am not jinxing it, but our little man officially sleeps through the night! Yay!!

Once in awhile he will move around and get stuck in the corner of the crib (pretty hilarious really) and I go in and move him….but other than that, we are finally getting some sleep! He typically goes down between 6:30-6:45 and wakes up between 6 and 6:30. Of course I’d love a later wake up time but I am not complaining!

Is it October already??

So I just realized that next week our little Donovan will be 5 months! 5 months, that’s basically half of a year. Whew the time really is flying by!

Now I feel like I might be jinxing it by putting this in writing, but our little man has been sleeping better at night! I still nurse him around 3 or 4am but besides that woke up he is doing much much better. I still try to get into bed around 9:30 so that I get a decent stretch of uninterrupted slept until feeding time. So we are getting there….there was a time that I did not think that was ever going to happen. Phew

Well I can’t say there is anything new going on with us, haha the same crazy days but we are gradually getting into somewhat of a routine. Our outings are still limited to the morning times bc of Donovan’s naps, but between our moms club & stroller strides playgroups we always have something on the agenda!

Besides the kiddos…what’s going on with me??

I’m finally trying to get back into a regular running routine, with the temps going down it is much more manageable. I got up to 4 miles last weekend, which was tough but felt great knowing I could do it.  I know it takes time to get back to your pre-baby body but it sure is frustrating when you don’t exactly feel like yourself.  I’ve been eyeing these running shoes for awhile…..some new workout gear always motivates me to get my butt moving!

Also for the month of October, I’m trying to take part in the 31 Day Challenge from Tone it Up. I printed out the calendar and left it out in plain site so I’m reminded of it even on the days where I feel like doing nothing! So hoping I notice somewhat of a difference by the end of the month!!

I’m also so excited….I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of Emily Ley’s book: Grace not Perfection. I’ve been following Emily on Instagram for a couple years and was excited to hear that she wrote a book. I think it’s going to be a good one, and I should get my copy tomorrow- woo! Now if only I had some time to read….hmm, I’ll work on it! 🙂

Oh Hi There

Oh the poor blog, I do think about you often but just can’t seem to get to you that much anymore!!

As it turns out, having 2 kids is hard and doesn’t leave much time for myself, but we are working on that! Both kiddos are napping now (woop) and instead of doing housework, I’m doing something for me. 🙂

Right now we are just at a tough stage….Charlotte is 18 months, loves to explore the world, touch everything, throw everything, and not follow direction that well yet.  And Donovan is so much more alert now that he refuses to sleep in his stroller. Arg! Sure makes going places tough, but once he is on a good 2 or 3 nap schedule, life will be a little easier, I hope!

We finally took C to the Slash Pad in town. She was a little hesitant at first but got over that quickly, haha! It’s so much fun to watch her explore new things. Although chasing her is tough, but that is only going to help me get back in shape right?

Oh and that fancy car?? Daddy made an “impulse buy” for the little princess….a remote control car. It is so fun. We don’t have much space in the house so we take her out on the sidewalk, she thinks she is cool. haha!

So What’s New?

Miss Charlie finished swim lessons this week! So fun and she enjoyed every minute of it! Now I know what to do with her when we take her in the pool and some things to work on as well! She loves the water and had no problem getting in and splashing around. So fun!

Mr D is officially a big boy….we took him in for his 2 month well check last week and he weighs 13 pound 9 oz!! He weighed 8lbs when he was born so that’s quite the weight gain in 2 months! At least I know his middle of the night nursing sessions are productive! 🙂

How’s Sleep?

We are gradually getting better, but we still have some rough nights here and there. Typically he will do one long stretch of about 5-6 hours, eat, then do a 3 or 3 1/2 hour stretch. So it’s not terrible, but I really long for the days that I don’t have such broken up sleep!  Soon I hope!!
