What Made Me Smile This Week

Happy November everyone!!

And no, I don’t believe it. I’m currently sitting in a t-shirt and shorts as it is 70+ degrees right now. Oh Texas, always keeps it interesting.

But guys, I am so excited for the holidays this year.  A lot of this has to do with the fact that Charlotte is able to participate and understand a little more about Christmas season. There are SO many kid friendly activities around our neighborhood and I’m making my list of to-dos already. 🙂

Halloween

The cutest Dorothy and Lion I have ever seen. {I know I’m a little biased, but they are pretty adorable!} This was the first time we went Trick or Treating door to door, and I wasn’t sure how it would go. They got the hang of it real quick once they realized they get candy after saying “trick or treeeaaaat.”

Starbucks Holiday Cups

I know, I know. It’s not Thanksgiving yet, but I can’t help but get sucked into all the seasonal fun!

Pop Pilates Park Classes

In addition to teaching at a corporate gym 2x a week, I also started teaching Pop classes at a park in town! Everyone that has taken so far, has loved the class, which makes me SO happy. Plus having some “me time” to start off the weekend is excellent.

New Book

Source

I know it takes me sooooo long to finish a book these days, but I’m stoked about this one.  My library has it, and having a deadline will hopefully keep me more accountable in my reading management. The last book I read was “The Couple Next Door”  by the same author, and I loved it.  I’m sure this one will be a page turner as well! Below is a quick summary taken off the Amazon site:

Karen and Tom Krupp are happy—they’ve got a lovely home in upstate New York, they’re practically newlyweds, and they have no kids to interrupt their comfortable life together. But one day, Tom returns home to find Karen has vanished—her car’s gone and it seems she left in a rush. She even left her purse—complete with phone and ID—behind.

There’s a knock on the door—the police are there to take Tom to the hospital where his wife has been admitted. She had a car accident, and lost control as she sped through the worst part of town.

The accident has left Karen with a concussion and a few scrapes.  Still, she’s mostly okay—except that she can’t remember what she was doing or where she was when she crashed. The cops think her memory loss is highly convenient, and they suspect she was up to no good.”

That’s all for now. Thank you for stopping by!

What is something that’s making you smile this week??

It’s Feeling Like Fall

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

The weather is finally cooling down here in Dallas that I can say “It’s Fall.” And by that I mean, its been in the 60’s in the mornings, and we need to wear jackets. I made a Pumpkin Chili Recipe a couple weeks ago, even though it was still 90 degrees. It was good, but I think I’ll enjoy it even more so when I’m cozied up with a warm sweater. Ahhhh, that sounds so lovely!

Now that the kiddos are getting a little order, it’s been so fun to start some family traditions and see them get excited about doing all these new activities. This is the first year we are going to attempt trick or treating in our neighborhood, it may not last longer than 20 minutes but I’m still looking forward to it!

Maybe soon I will actually get a sibling picture of them BOTH looking at the camera??

We’ve been enjoying more afternoon park days as well, which is so good for all of us mentally and physically to get out after naptimes. The swing and slides have been big hits lately!

Friday night dinners out have also been a new thing as of late….which is largely due to the fact that once Friday hits,  I don’t want to cook anymore! Thankfully we live in a very family friendly town as the meals don’t last longer than an hour and usually involve one or two fussy children at some point.          Sweet little Charlie is also going through a “I love Mommy” and a “I want to test all my boundaries with Mommy” phase. Literally yesterday morning she picked up her box of hair bows looked at me and threw it on the ground. Then 30 minutes later was crying for me at preschool drop off. These little toddlers sure have a lot of emotions and opinions. So we are working on how to successfully cope with this stage. It is tough!

A friend of mine recommended this book below. Of course I’m only on like page 10, but it seems like it will have some good information!

On the workout front, I’m still doing a combination of running, Pop Pilates, and Tone it Up routines. At home workouts are my jam and what work with our family schedule.

Since the weather is cooling down, I want to up my running mileage and potentially look into a 10K in the next few months. I miss having something to train for, and signing up for a race always holds me accountable to push for that extra mile.

That’s all for now! Thank you for stopping by!

New Goals for the New Year

The New Year Resolution hype is in full swing right now- the gyms are packed the Whole Thirty Book is flying off the shelf!

This year I wanted to set some goals instead of resolutions. For me, goals are more realistic and attainable. It will also be fun to look back on this post 6 months from now to see where I am at!  So, here it goes:

New Year Celebration with champagne.

*Be More Present. When I’m playing with my kids, that’s where I need to be -not worrying about their next meal, naptime or errand I need to run. And this also means- put down the phone. Don’t get me wrong, I love the convenience of social media & (my Amazon app of course) BUT there needs to be a time and a place. I’m trying to be more mindful of this and hope that will help.
*Give Myself Time to Blog. I started this blog as a hobby because it’s fun! I enjoy writing and having this outlet. Kind of like my online journal. So I think the little pockets of time I have to put down the phone will also free up my “freetime” to blog!
*Become Pop Pilates Certified & Teach! I’ve loved Pilates for a very long time and have always wanted to more delve into it. The timing just never seemed to exactly work out. I’ve been a fan of the Blogilates youtube videos for years- high energy and challenging! I know this will be a lot of work, especially carving out the time to learn choreography with the two littles but this time, the timing just seems right!
*Spend one night a week where I read. Curling up in my pajamas, a glass of wine and a good book is so relaxing. We love our tv shows but it’s nice to tune everything else out and escape into a good book!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Blog World!

I know I’m not on here very often this past year, but I’m still thankful for this space, the blogs I read, and those who have become blog friends!

I’m also thankful for this crazy little family of ours and look forward to enjoying some food, conversations and WINE later today. (This is the first holiday season in two years that I’m not pregnant) 🙂

3 Ways to Boost Your Mood

With the busy Holiday season upon us, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and stressed out with Christmas shopping, holiday parties, family gatherings, decorating etc.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find some time alone to relax and regroup. And if you are anything like me, then you NEED some alone time! If that isn’t readily possible, try some of these tips below to de-stress and boost your mood!

Mood

Buy Some Fresh Flowers
I don’t know what it is about the bright fresh colors but anytime my husband or I bring them home, I can’t help but feel a little happier. {Anything that is the color pink helps too!}

Light A Candle

A good smelling candle or diffuser has always been calming to me. My favorite of late is the volcano Capri Blue candle (or diffuser). I can’t get enough of that smell. They are all over my local pure barre studio, so I have become obsessed. I bought a diffuser for Charlotte’s room and we have a candle out in our living room.

Listen to Music
I listen to a lot of Pandora stations throughout the day and my current go-to’s are James Morrison and Vance Joy for relaxing music.  I usually have some music playing when I’m getting ready in the morning.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!!

What are your go-to way’s to de-stress during the Holidays or in general?

Oh Hello There Blog!

Hey Hey!
Well I have managed to not post at all in November…until today. Yikes. I will partially blame this on the fact that little miss Charlotte has decided to not sleep as regularly, so my creativity has been a little zapped! I miss writing and having the time to write so I’m glad I made some time to do it today!

This post is a little all over the place since I haven’t blogged in a bit so bear with me. 😉

{She says: “Me not sleep?? No waayyyyy!!”}

I feel like it is officially winter here in Texas. It’s been chilly and gloomy the past few days. Womp Womp. I am glad it has cooled down, but the lack of sunshine this weekend has made me feel very blah! (Living in California has forever spoiled me) Since the weather is getting cooler, I’m trying to get in at least 2 runs a week until it gets too cold outside. I’m still loving my Pure Barre classes, Barre DVD’s, and Tone it Up Workouts when I’m exercising indoors.

TraderJoes

I know I don’t talk much about cooking or nutrition on here, as I’m still a newbie but it is something I’m trying to get better at. Trader Joe’s has always been one of my favorite grocery stores. When I lived in California, there was one literally 5 minutes away so I could shop there every week. But now the closest one to me is a 20 minute drive- not horrible, but not super convenient. So, I get excited when I can go!

If you are a Trader Joe’s shopper…check out this book, it’s been my most used recipe book! (I’m not getting compensated to say this, I really like the book!)

Christmas

The Holiday season is upon us, whether we like it or not! 🙂

I have to say, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday- when there is a day dedicated to eating large amounts of food with family and/or friends~ you just can’t go wrong! But I’m also a sucker for Christmas decorations, music and movies. My friend sent me the above picture and don’t judge me BUT some of these dates are in my calendar so I don’t miss out!

And with that, I’m off to tend to this cutie pants.

I’ll be back sooner than later! Thanks for stopping by!

What is your favorite holiday?

Do you shop at Trader Joe’s?

My Highlights of 2014

Do you guys remember Back to the Future when Marty McFly flies away to the future? Yea, the year was 2015. Seriously?!! And now it’s 2 days away! This makes me feel old.

One of the reasons I love blogging is that I can easily look back on my year in pictures, stories and posts. Here are some of my favorite moments of 2014:

Vegas Trip

We lived in Los Angeles for almost 3 years and went to Vegas 5 times. Geesh…. guess we were taking advantage of the proximity. Haha!

Attending my first Blog Conference

Lucky for me the conference was held about 45 minutes from my home in LA, so I had no excuse not to go. It was so great to meet my “blogging friends” in person and to learn so much.

blogfriends

I do wish there was more time for networking as a couple of my favorite bloggers were in attendance but I didn’t get a chance to talk to them. Shout out to Courtney, Gina, and Julie. Boo~ well maybe next time.

Running a Half Marathon

Before moving to California I ran a half sometimes twice a year. Needless to say I got a little burnt out on the whole race thing, but I’m happy hubby and I bit the bullet, signed up and finished one before we moved.

Napa Trip

A week away from the daily routine and the city was much needed. Even though I couldn’t fully enjoy all the wine (hubby has promised to save some bottles for me), I’d say it was a perfect trip. Paisley was with us too, she’s such a world traveler. 🙂

The Twinsies!

Of course the big life changer: our boy/girl twins arriving this Spring. We are so excited, nervous & anxious..which I figure is the norm with first time parents, esp. of twins!

Yep, Paisley is a proud big sister.
