A Fitness Instructor’s Favorite Things

Hello there!

Well, we officially have 15 days until Christmas……..are you ready?? Don’t worry, I’m not either.¬†All I have to say is thank goodness for Amazon Prime and that I don’t have a ton of people to shop for. ūüôā

Today I wanted to take a peek into some must-haves for a fitness instructor- whether you teach classes everyday or just once a week….

Yoga Pants

This is a no-brainer, but has to be included. Since I teach Stroller Strides classes and am a SAHM, I LIVE in yoga pants. I need something that I can wear for most of the day- after class running errands etc. I’ve tried so many different brands out there, but I have to say my favorite brand of late Is Beyond Yoga. They are THE MOST comfortable pants I have ever worn, seriously. Try some on and you won’t be disappointed.

A Cute Pullover

To go along with the yoga pants, for me, I don’t have time to shower and change immediately after teaching class. So, I need something that is comfy but cute enough to wear out and about. I love that so many fitness brands sell things that can be wear outside of the gym and the studio.

Below are some fun finds from Zella:

Cuteness Overload going on here!

 Comfy Shoes

My shoes are on their last legs, so I’m currently on the hunt for a new pair…soon! ūüôā

My classes are usually in the AM, so I don’t have time to do my hair and I also figure…..what’s the point? ¬†So, a headband can hide my lack of hair style. My favorite brand is Sweaty Bands because they are cute AND they actually stay on my head!

Dry Shampoo

Refer to previous statements as to why this is a necessity. ūüôā

Power Bars

I’m always hungry and snacking, so I keep a granola bar in my bag at all times.

Water bottle

I carry one with me at all times, whether I’m teaching or not. My favorite brand of late is Contigo because the water actually stays cold….score!

And that’s all I have!

Is there anything you would add to the list??

Also, for those of you that follow me on Instagram– you may have seen my post that we are expecting a baby boy this Spring! I’ll dedicate an entire post with more details very soon! ūüôā

Alright friends, have a great Thursday!!

Happy Wednesday All!

Today is a very exciting day……

My Pure Barre studio is hosting a “bring on the men” class tonight¬†AND my hubby is actually joining me! HA! (side note: the man has never done yoga or pilates, so this will be completely new for him!)

It only took 2 years of me bugging him about it.¬† Another couple (and one of hubby’s best friends) is¬†attending class¬†too, so I think that helped to convince him. ūüôā For one, I always enjoy working out with husband and two, I want him to have a better appreciation of barre classes and maybe he’ll gain an insight into my slight obsession with them. I’ll be sure to share about the experience!

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared what I’ve been loving on Pinterest.¬†This is still my favorite ‘social media’ site and I¬†constantly get lost on it for hours…..ooops.

A Spring Dream

Is it pathetic that I’m already getting really excited for Spring? I mean, I did say that I missed living somewhere that had seasons, but now that I have experienced winter for a couple months I am over it! Yep, LA officially spoiled me.

Ahh, I miss the beach! Waa.

But honestly, I can’t complain TOO much as we have had a couple 70 degrees days here in Dallas, so it’s not THAT bad. (This is what I keep trying to tell myself).

It also doesn’t help that stores are already advertising their spring lines…swim suits, pastels and shot dresses, what?!

Here are some things I’m crushing on for Spring!

Bright Tops

Yellow just screams Spring to me and I am all about comfort these days and this shirt fits the bill.

Swim Suits

I’m pretty sure I won’t be too jazzed about wearing a bikini right after the babies come, so I will probably invest in a cute one piece like this.

 Shirt Dresses

These are the best, they are comfy (are you sensing a theme here?) and make you look more dressed up than you sometimes feel. I’m pretty positive dresses like this will be my go-to when the little ones arrive and will hopefully¬†make me feel somewhat presentable while living off minimal sleep!

 Everyday Sandals

Yep cute and comfy.

Are you dreaming about Spring as much as I am??

What are your Spring go-to staples?

Catching Up

Life has been busy busy lately, which has left me feeling too tired and lacking creativity to do much blog posting. And we just got back from a trip, so that kept me away from the computer.

Hubby and I spent a long weekend away in Dallas visiting family and friends and it was just what I needed. Work has been busy and it was fabulous to get a little break and catch up with all of our Texas people. Here’s some pics I snapped while we were away:

Highland Park. The cutest  little neighborhood near downtown Dallas full of trees and perfect houses. Love it.

I was able to sneak in a little bit of shopping and at an outdoor mall? Even better.

Hubby and I out at dinner. We are matching in blue, lol!

Lunching with some friends and eating some awesome Tex-Mex food. Yummy.

Hubby and his best friends reunited, how cute!

016Me and my lady friends. They are so sweet!

I was able to fit in one run which was nice since we ate a lot.¬†I’m happy to be home and to get back to my workout routine. I just finished a little run with the pup this afternoon and had to stop to take some shots at the beach….I swear, this¬†view never gets old.

Hubby and I are thinking of getting back on the half marathon train in the next couple months. I haven’t ran a half in way too long (since before we moved to LA, yikes) and I’m ready to get back into shape and into training mode. I’ll keep you all posted!

Pretty Things

As much as I am a fitness enthusiast, I am also a complete girly girl and love all things pretty (hence the name of my blog).

Today I wanted to share a few items and images that I’ve been crushing on lately.

Kate Spade can do no wrong in my opinion. I love her jewelry, purses, clothes, and shoes.

Tees with French or Italian sayings seem everywhere now. I actually own this shirt- it’s comfy and I like that I can dress it up or down.

I’m loving floral dresses for springtime, this one is so adorable and those pink shoes are too die for!

I’m trying to fancy up our current wall art situation. Etsy always has lots to choose from!

This picture reminds me of summer and inspires me to ride my bike when I can.

Another floral number for spring. Love!

I know we aren’t going to be living in LA forever, so I’m trying to take advantage of being near the ocean and to enjoy it.

Bright colors make me happy!

If only my bed looked like this every morning. I’ve had breakfast in bed once in my life while I was on vacation.

Thanks for stopping by! ~M

When In Vegas…

Happy Tuesday All!

Or the case of the Tuesdays, same difference.

It’s always a bit of an adjustment getting back to the ‘ol work routine after some time off. ¬†I feel like it takes an extra day to turn the brain back on. And, I wanted to stop by Starbucks this AM¬†but was running a little late, so that did not happen. Boo!

Anywho I wanted to fill you all in on our Vegas trip. So much fun, but went by WAY too fast. We walked so much that my legs were actually a little sore yesterday, so I don’t feel bad about missing my weekend workouts.

Here’s some pics I took in no particular order:¬†(Sorry the pics are a little blurry, blame the Iphone!)

The pink dress, woo!

MGM pool time. 77 degrees. Perfect

Last stop at the pool before leaving

¬†I love walking around Vegas, there is so much to do and see. And when the weather is just right, you can’t beat it!

As fun as vacation is, I am always happy to get back to my sleeping and exercise routine (do I sound old or what?) I took it easy Monday night, but this is my workout plan the rest of the week:

Tuesday:¬†4 mile run with stairs (I’m doing a stair climb event in 2 weeks, eek, will fill you guys in on the details soon)

Wednesday:¬†At home workout DVD- Mash Up Conditioning. Will be posting a review on this one soon, can’t wait to try it out!

Thursday: 4-5 mile run.

Friday: Rest Day

Saturday: Pop Physique class

Sunday: Hike with a friend

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Random Thoughts of the Week

I couldn’t think of a specific blog topic this week, and I have some scattered thoughts floating around in my head, so I thought I’d share those. Here it goes:

Cronuts. What the heck?!

Okay, to rewind: I must admit that I watch ¬†Rich Kids of Beverly Hills¬†(I know embarrassing right? It’s a guilty pleasure) and last week they introduced me to the world of cronuts. A croissant doughnut. Lol I want to laugh every time I say it.

Have any of you tried these? It sounds intriguing, I don’t think I’ll make a special trip just for them, but I’ll try it if it’s available.

Here’s a link to a video clip of the girls unable to try a Cronut while visiting New York. LOL!

We bought Girl Scouts cookies (Thin Mints and Tagalongs my fav) on Sunday and come Tuesday, they were all gone.

I feel like the boxes are smaller than they used to be. Or am I crazy??

Yum. I will be buying more.

I’m going to Vegas next week. Woo hoo!

Hubby and I are meeting up with some friends next weekend and I cannot wait. ¬†I’m looking forward to some people watching, hanging out, and taking a break from the daily grind. Oh and the pools will be open so you can bet I’ll be spending some time there!

And I have an excuse to wear my pink dress again!!

I bought this beauty 3ish (yikes) years ago for my bachlorette party. When I saw Kristen Cavallari (love her) wearing it, I was obsessed and had to have it.

It’s not a dress I can wear very often, but I’ve gotten decent use out of it at Vegas trips and at a Lady Gaga concert a couple years ago.

I don’t think they sell this dress anymore (sad face) but I purchased it from Naven.¬†

Can’t wait to share some pics!

Oh, I wrote an article recently on the newest spring fitness fashion trends, Check it out!

Thanks for reading as always!
