It’s Feeling Like Fall

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

The weather is finally cooling down here in Dallas that I can say “It’s Fall.” And by that I mean, its been in the 60’s in the mornings, and we need to wear jackets. I made a Pumpkin Chili Recipe a couple weeks ago, even though it was still 90 degrees. It was good, but I think I’ll enjoy it even more so when I’m cozied up with a warm sweater. Ahhhh, that sounds so lovely!

Now that the kiddos are getting a little order, it’s been so fun to start some family traditions and see them get excited about doing all these new activities. This is the first year we are going to attempt trick or treating in our neighborhood, it may not last longer than 20 minutes but I’m still looking forward to it!

Maybe soon I will actually get a sibling picture of them BOTH looking at the camera??

We’ve been enjoying more afternoon park days as well, which is so good for all of us mentally and physically to get out after naptimes. The swing and slides have been big hits lately!

Friday night dinners out have also been a new thing as of late….which is largely due to the fact that once Friday hits,  I don’t want to cook anymore! Thankfully we live in a very family friendly town as the meals don’t last longer than an hour and usually involve one or two fussy children at some point.          Sweet little Charlie is also going through a “I love Mommy” and a “I want to test all my boundaries with Mommy” phase. Literally yesterday morning she picked up her box of hair bows looked at me and threw it on the ground. Then 30 minutes later was crying for me at preschool drop off. These little toddlers sure have a lot of emotions and opinions. So we are working on how to successfully cope with this stage. It is tough!

A friend of mine recommended this book below. Of course I’m only on like page 10, but it seems like it will have some good information!

On the workout front, I’m still doing a combination of running, Pop Pilates, and Tone it Up routines. At home workouts are my jam and what work with our family schedule.

Since the weather is cooling down, I want to up my running mileage and potentially look into a 10K in the next few months. I miss having something to train for, and signing up for a race always holds me accountable to push for that extra mile.

That’s all for now! Thank you for stopping by!

Sometimes You Have to Write

Hello Hello!!

So lately I am having a little conflict with myself about what to do with my alone time. If I’m not
“being productive” I feel guilty, if I am productive, I feel like I need a break and it goes on and on! So silly. I realize I need a healthy balance of both. During naptimes I’ve been working on my Pop choreography, working out, and getting chores done around the house! I think since I stay at home with the little ones, I have a hard time really relaxing at home. It’s this weird self-induced pressure to always “get stuff done.” But today I was just feeling like I needed to write.

So here I am!

Can we seriously believe it’s Fall already?? This is hands down my favorite time of year….pumpkin everything, cozy sweaters, football & gearing up for the Holidays. I hope the temps cool down here soon so that I can wear said fall clothes! We are taking the kiddos to the Pumpkin Patch this weekend, should be pretty cute and fun.

My little football fans are the cutest, right?

Switching gears, but you all now I love me some Tone it Up & I was fortunate enough to make it to their Dallas tour stop last weekend! This past year I’ve been following their program very closely and the nutrition plan as well. I can’t say anymore great things about it. They’ve created such an inspiring welcoming community that makes fitness and eating healthy so fun.

{Getting a hug from them was pretty cool}

I slacked at taking lots of pictures during the event but was able to snap a few!

Kombucha on top, haha!

Such a fun sweaty girls day!

I’m also gearing up for launching my Pop Pilates classes at the Park! I’ve always dreamed of having my own fitness company and this is a small step in that direction. I may be updating this blog a bit and I eventually want to send out a “Fit News” newsletter. Coming soon, yay! So lots of ideas and planning going on inside my head, and I’ve finally accepted the fact that it will be moving at a snail pace for the time being!

Thanks for Stopping By! ~Marielle

Is it October already??

So I just realized that next week our little Donovan will be 5 months! 5 months, that’s basically half of a year. Whew the time really is flying by!

Now I feel like I might be jinxing it by putting this in writing, but our little man has been sleeping better at night! I still nurse him around 3 or 4am but besides that woke up he is doing much much better. I still try to get into bed around 9:30 so that I get a decent stretch of uninterrupted slept until feeding time. So we are getting there….there was a time that I did not think that was ever going to happen. Phew

Well I can’t say there is anything new going on with us, haha the same crazy days but we are gradually getting into somewhat of a routine. Our outings are still limited to the morning times bc of Donovan’s naps, but between our moms club & stroller strides playgroups we always have something on the agenda!

Besides the kiddos…what’s going on with me??

I’m finally trying to get back into a regular running routine, with the temps going down it is much more manageable. I got up to 4 miles last weekend, which was tough but felt great knowing I could do it.  I know it takes time to get back to your pre-baby body but it sure is frustrating when you don’t exactly feel like yourself.  I’ve been eyeing these running shoes for awhile…..some new workout gear always motivates me to get my butt moving!

Also for the month of October, I’m trying to take part in the 31 Day Challenge from Tone it Up. I printed out the calendar and left it out in plain site so I’m reminded of it even on the days where I feel like doing nothing! So hoping I notice somewhat of a difference by the end of the month!!

I’m also so excited….I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of Emily Ley’s book: Grace not Perfection. I’ve been following Emily on Instagram for a couple years and was excited to hear that she wrote a book. I think it’s going to be a good one, and I should get my copy tomorrow- woo! Now if only I had some time to read….hmm, I’ll work on it! 🙂

Alright that’s all for now…thanks for stopping by!

Are there any books you are loving right now?? Please share below, I always love new recs!

3 Goals For Fall

Ahhhhh, my favorite time of year….pumpkin lattes, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies, boots, and scarves. Here’s to hoping I can wear these soon, considering it is still 75-80 degrees here in LA.

I was inspired by the Tone it Up Frisky Fall Challenge to set some goals for myself this season. Fall is a perfect time to reset and focus on healthy habits before the craziness of the holiday season.

Practice Yoga1x/Week

yoga1source

Over the weekend a girlfriend and I went to a lululemon free community yoga class. It felt great to say the least. I could tell I was a little out of practice, but it’s seriously amazing how relaxed my mind and body feel afterwards. I talk about how great Yoga is constantly, yet I’ve been slacking on taking that time to myself lately. Luckily, I still have my online membership to My Yoga Works, so I have no excuse. And I figure if I tell the blog world, then I have to do it! 🙂

Live in the Moment

I am the WORST at this. I blame part of it as being a woman, as we are all innate planners but sometimes I wish my brain would just turn down a notch.  At times I worry too much about things I have no control over and that can take away from really enjoying the moment. My hubby is really good at this, and I’m trying to let that part of his personality rub off on me.  Hopefully yoga can help out with this as well.

Read More Books

This is likely going to go out the door once the holidays hit. Books have always been a great escape from reality and are a much better use of time than watching tv or playing on social media. I’d love to find a book club to join, as that will keep me on track. We’ll see!

I’ve heard a lot about this book recently and saw it at Target the other day and bought it, so I hope I like it! 🙂

Fall Style

I was perusing through some of my favorite fashion blogs (The perfect lazy Sunday activity I must say) and wanted to share some of my favorite looks.

All images are from:  (Gal Meets Glam, Marionberry Style, and Sequins & Stripes).

I love entering into a new season, adding something new into the ‘ol wardrobe, and finding new ways to incorporate some pieces I already own- like adding tights or boots to a summer dress.  And who doesn’t love a soft cozy sweater?

What do you want to add to your wardrobe for Fall?

Post Labor Day Workout

Happy September Everyone!

It’s a lovely 84 degrees today in So Cal, so it definitely feels like it should be the middle of July (not complaining).

As much as I love summer, fall is actually one of my favorite seasons. I love bringing out cozy sweaters, boots, and sipping a Pumpkin Spiced Latte. (Did you hear these are out already?!) Woo!

Last year fall didn’t really arrive in LA until the middle of October, so I have another month before I will be switching up the wardrobe.

****************************************

If you are anything like me, you enjoyed some BBQ’ing over the weekend full of hamburgers, chips, desserts, and some beer. Always a good time, but I woke up today feeling like I needed to get a good sweat in. I went on a little run with the puppy, then went through this circuit.

LaborDaySweat

Go through circuit once or twice or even three times if you have it in you! If you don’t have a jump rope like me, mimic the motion with your arms like you do. In between each 4th exercise, grab some water! 😉

Enjoy sweating it out!

What’s your favorite thing about Fall?

Did you workout after BBQ’ing this weekend?
