My Highlights of 2014

Do you guys remember Back to the Future when Marty McFly flies away to the future? Yea, the year was 2015. Seriously?!! And now it’s 2 days away! This makes me feel old.

One of the reasons I love blogging is that I can easily look back on my year in pictures, stories and posts. Here are some of my favorite moments of 2014:

Vegas Trip

We lived in Los Angeles for almost 3 years and went to Vegas 5 times. Geesh…. guess we were taking advantage of the proximity. Haha!

Attending my first Blog Conference

Lucky for me the conference was held about 45 minutes from my home in LA, so I had no excuse not to go. It was so great to meet my “blogging friends” in person and to learn so much.

I do wish there was more time for networking as a couple of my favorite bloggers were in attendance but I didn’t get a chance to talk to them. Shout out to Courtney, Gina, and Julie. Boo~ well maybe next time.

Running a Half Marathon

Before moving to California I ran a half sometimes twice a year. Needless to say I got a little burnt out on the whole race thing, but I’m happy hubby and I bit the bullet, signed up and finished one before we moved.

Napa Trip

A week away from the daily routine and the city was much needed. Even though I couldn’t fully enjoy all the wine (hubby has promised to save some bottles for me), I’d say it was a perfect trip. Paisley was with us too, she’s such a world traveler. 🙂

The Twinsies!

Of course the big life changer: our boy/girl twins arriving this Spring. We are so excited, nervous & anxious..which I figure is the norm with first time parents, esp. of twins!

Yep, Paisley is a proud big sister.

Merry Christmas

Good Morning All!

I wanted to pop in quickly to wish you all a Merry Christmas and early happy new year! I can’t believe it’s almost 2015, that is mind boggling!

We are so happy to be living in Dallas around so many friends and family, to be first time home owners, and know our little family is growing in just a few months!

Today I’m doing some last minute grocery shopping for dinner tonight (the menu includes ham and green bean cassorle, yum!) and wrapping my last couple presents. Hubby is working a half day today so we’ll probably just relax at home and watch some Christmas movies. I can’t believe Christmas is tomorrow. Seriously!?!

I want to thank all of you for being a part of my blogging family! I’ve made so many great blogging connections this year and can’t wait to see what 2015 holds!

Off to some Pure Barre before I consume a lot of calories the next 2 days (all worth it, of course!)

Gifties for the Boy

Alright you guys, we have 1 week left to finish Christmas shopping. Seriously every year it feels like the time just goes faster and faster! I’m just about finished with my shopping, but have a few more things to pick up when I’m out shopping tomorrow.

Today I wanted to share some last minute shopping inspiration for the man in your life from a few of my favorite stores.

The Beer Boot. I don’t thing you can go wrong with this. I found one for hubby at Target.

The next three  gifts can be found at JCrew.

If your man is anything like mine, he does not like to shop especially for something like Socks. But he always seems to appreciate it when I find him a nice pair! 🙂

shavesetA fancy Shaving Set.  I don’t even now the last time my husband updated anything to do with shaving….and as I type this I don’t even want to know!

beanieA Beanie. Now that we are no longer living in So Cal we can both wear some winter weather gear!

And the last two gifts can be found at Nordstrom.

Slippers. These look so cozy I even want a pair!

Nike Dri-Fit Shirt. These seem to last forever, aren’t too pricey, and my husband loves them.

Well there ya go. Hope that gives you some shopping inspiration as we go into the last weekend before Christmas. Eek!

I hope everyone as a wonderful, fun, and relaxing holiday! Love, us!

My Holiday Favorites & A Moving Update

Hi All!

Well, I am officially no longer living out of a suitcase, woo hoo! We moved into our new house last Wednesday and it’s been a whirlwind. I don’t really know what day it is until I look at my phone. We still have tons of boxes to go through, but at least we can now cook and sit and watch tv in our own space. We have moved so much the past few years, and I still forget how much unpacking just sucks. Ugh. Here’s some pics of our progress so far~

Admist all the unpacking and boxes, we managed to put up a tree! And yes, the ornaments are all high up because of the dog’s chewing habits.

Our living room space including a cute sleepy dog!

014Getting the kitchen organized was THE WORST. I’m happy that part is finished!

The next task is the office. Oh boy, so many boxes still. EEK.

The bedroom is just about finished. We need to find some nightstands and we’ll be all set! Our last house wasn’t big enough to fit a nightstand (sad, I know), so I’m pretty excited that I don’t have to store my books and magazines on the floor anymore. 🙂

I love organizing my makeup area and dresser!

A walk-in closet, OMG! I can actually see everything I own! I even have enough space for some more clothes, woo!

Double sinks, I’m already obsessed.

The guest room is all ready for our first guest this week, my mom!

The baby room needs the most work, it’s currently filled with an overflow of empty boxes. But hey, at least I have some cute clothes to hang up so far!

I’ll make sure to share some updated pics once everything is all set.

To completely change topics, I wanted to share what I love about the Holidays and also hear what you love too!

Christmas Movies~ This is a no-brainer. My favorites are Christmas vacation, Elf, Home Alone, and It’s a Wonderful Life.

Holiday Coffee Flavors~ Peppermint Mochas, Salted Caramel Mochas (apparently I have a thing for mochas)!

holiday drinks

Decorating the Tree~ I’m extremely impressed with ourselves getting a tree up over the weekend.  Last year we didn’t have a tree because hubby had just had his shoulder surgery AND Paisley was not even a year yet. Lame, I know. So this year, there is no lack of the holiday spirit in our house!

Buying Stocking Stuffers for the Hubby~  I have gotten him the best gifts in the past at the most random places like Rite Aid. Lol. I love searching for funny little gifties that he would like or laugh at. I’m going to head out to Target today and see what I can find. (I need to find this shirt somehow, ha!)

What are your favorite activities to do around the Holidays?

Are you finished with your Christmas shopping?

Happy Wednesday to you all!

Pre-Natal Arm Blaster Workout

Happy Monday All! Today I wanted to share a new Prenatal Workout honing in on the arms. This is an area we can easily focus on throughout pregnancy and will need that strength when we are carrying the baby (or babies in my case), diaper bags, and lifting car seats etc. I made sure this routine has some exercises focused on our posture muscles as these are important now as our bellies get bigger and after giving birth.

Disclaimer~ I am a CSCS, certified strength and conditioning specialist and am pursuing a pre/post natal exercise specialist certification. Before any exercise program, always get clearance from your MD. Throughout this workout you never want to breath too hard that you are unable to speak. If you feel dizzy or light headed stop and take a break. prenatalarms1

Perform each exercise for 1 minute and if you are feeling great, repeat the workout a second time through.  I used 3-4# weights during the routine. Always modify planks or push ups onto your knees, the edge of the couch, or at a wall. Do not let your back arch!

Holiday Gift Guide for Her

Happy Friday Friends! I know I’m a little late to the party, but I just discovered Polyvore! I
just spent my morning making a collage full of holiday gifties for the ladies. I could
easily get lost on this site for hours. No joke.
I’m sure my technique with this site will get a little better in time,
but I wanted to share my first creation with you anyways!
Christmas WishList
Kendra Scott earrings are so classy and go with everything!! I have some turquoise ones
and get compliments on them almost every time I wear them!
Jcrew Pajama Sets look so comfy and adorable. I have never owned an actual pajama set,
usually just wear a t-shirt and comfy pants so I thought these would be a fun change!
New Boots. Sad to say my favorite pair of boots (that I’ve had for 5 years) are about
dead. I search all over for them online, but they are no longer being made. WAA. So I’m
beginning the slow search for a new pair.
Sleeping Mask. My dog has partially chewed mine, so needless to say it is not in tip top
Anthropologie Candles are seriously to best and smell amazing. I’m obsessed. I can’t
wait to buy one for our new home!
Wall Art. I seriously cannot wait to decorate our house and one of the first things I want
to do is buy some more printed pics for the bathroom, living room, and the nursery.

Wide boots

Capri blue candle

Sleeping Lambie Eyes Sleep Mask
This weekend the hubby and I are getting together with some friends we haven’t seen
yet since we have been in town. WIll be so great to catch up with them and know we can
get together more often now that we live here.
I’m taking today off from working out and tomorrow plan on taking the dog on a walk, so
this weekend should be relaxing mentally and physically! Maybe I’ll start watching some
Christmas movies. Hmm, that sounds like a plan! 🙂
What are you up to this weekend?
What’s on your Christmas Wish List?

Pregnancy Update: Week 20

Hey Guys! I’m stopping in quick to share my week 20 update (trying to not let another month pass before doing another one) So let’s get right to it!20 weeks pic

I’d definitely say there is no more hiding the ‘ol bump!

Here’s what’s going on with the babes this week:

  • The babies are weighing in at about 10 1/2 ounces and are about the size of a banana
  • They are measuring at about 10 inches long from head to heels
  • The babes are swallowing more often now which is good for their digestive systems

Here’s what’s going on with me:

Weight Gain: I think about 10-12 pounds all together

Workouts: Considering how busy our lives have been the past couple of weeks, I have amazingly been able to walk/jog Paisley almost daily for about 20-30 minutes and started back at Pure Barre this week (hoping for 3-4x/week depending on how I feel).

Symptoms: Mostly just hungry every few hours, I always have some sort of snack with me at all times! I have started to feel some little fluttering in the belly, but no big kicks that can be felt from the outside just yet. And yes, I am still needing to go to the bathroom once each night. One of the babies is definitely sitting on top of my bladder…at least that’s what it feels like! Oh, and you can forget me staying up any later than 10pm.

Food Cravings: Still relatively the same….a cheeseburger always sounds good (but I’m not giving into that craving very often), cold cereal, and milk.

Food Aversions: Thankfully none!

Sleep: I’ve been moving around a little more to get comfy at night, but I think that can also be attributed to the fact that I’m not in my own bed just yet (one more week!)

Stretch Marks: None, still applying my belly lotions in the morning and night!

Genders: A BOY and GIRL. I feel like we hit the jackpot right there 🙂

Baby Items Purchased: I’m planning on heading to the Baby Gap this week with a giftcard and picking out some stuff…finally!

Looking forward To: Organizing their nursery, feeling some more kicks and of course shopping for them!
