My First Blog Conference

As I sat down to write this post, I had a hard time knowing where to start. It’s a little difficult to put into words the Blog Fest experience. So much energy, So much learning and So much inspiration. Oh and soreness too, lots of workouts and my body was definitely feeling it, but in a good way of course!

I finally had the opportunity to meet some twitter/blogging friends in person! (shout out to Caroline and Moe)


Our days were packed with exercise classes, expo time, and lectures.

A panel with Run Eat Repeat, PB Fingers, and Fitnessista! So cool to see them in person. They are all just as sweet and funny as they seem on their blogs.

The Yoga class was awesome and an especially great way to start the day.

Listening to Jillian Michaels was the highlight of the weekend. For sure.


I’ve seen Biggest Loser over the years and she seemed so intimidating….it wasn’t that I didn’t like her, but I was indifferent.  After hearing her speech, I can proudly say I am a fan. Her tv persona is SO different than how she is in person: she’s humble, sweet, and really hilarious. She seemed genuinely happy to be the keynote at our event. Super motivating and inspiring.

My biggest take away from this weekend was reminding myself why I started a blog in the first place.

Writing has always been a passion of mine. I loved writing papers in college (weird, I know). Being in the workforce the past couple of years took me away from pursuing that avenue much. I’ve read blogs for years and one day it clicked “well I could write one too.” I started when we had recently moved down to LA, didn’t have much of a social life and wanted an outlet for my fitness passion.

After this weekend I feel like I got another push to dive back into my writing and the ‘ol blog. I’m hoping someday to have the opportunity to do some freelancing discussing various fitness topics. We’ll see what the future holds, but writing that down makes me feel excited!

Getting Back On Track

Whew! I’m baaack! And wanted to update you on a couple of things!


We finished the half marathon. And I am so glad that it is over with, lol! n the past, whenever I’d finish a race I was already planning the next one. But this time, I am content with solely focusing on barre classes, yoga, and shorter runs with my pup.

The weather was perfect for the race. Overcast and about 65-70 degrees. The course was an out and back….which isn’t my favorite, the second lap is always a little bit of a mental struggle for me.

I was using my “map my run” app during the race so I knew exactly where I was. The first 6 miles were great, I was hanging at a 9:30 pace. Once I got to mile 8, I gradually started to slow down. The last 2 miles seemed like they took FOREVER but I got a little burst of energy once I saw the finish line in the distance.

I finished close to 2:10. Not my best race, but just happy I made it. It’s been about 2 1/2 years since my last half, so I was/am a little out of practice! In retrospect, I should have incorporated more sprinting workouts into my training for sure.

The soreness lasted 2 days, ugh the next day was the WORST. Every time I walked I could feel my hips and knees pulling. Yuck. Once I made it to Monday, I was feeling a little more normal.

I did a Pure Barre class on Tuesday that week, so now I’m getting back into my regular routine. 🙂


So, my first blog conference is coming up this week!! EEK! When I signed up, it seemed so far away, I can’t believe it’s finally here. It’ll be great to connect with some fitness/healthy living bloggers and I’m hoping I’ll learn something too!
