Staying Holiday Fit

The Holiday Season is upon us believe it or not! Christmas music is playing, trees are getting put up, and shopping madness has begun.

This also means we are going to be tempted with Christmas cookies, Gingerbread Lattes, and Holiday Cocktails.  Sounds lovely right? Yes and No.

Follow my tips to make it through this Holiday Season staying in shape, healthy, and happy….

Have a “Party Plan”: When attending a party, offer to bring a healthy plate of veggies low calorie snacks (hummus and carrots is my go-to) or eat before you arrive to a party.
Schedule Exercise: Workouts can be put on the back burner this time of year due to a busy schedule full of work, Christmas shopping, traveling  and of course holiday parties.  Put workout time on your calender, that way you will be more likely to follow through.  Can’t make it to the gym?  Try an at home-workout, designed by yours truly :), a video or bring a theraband in your luggage during travel.
Drink water:  People often mistake thirst for hunger, so next time you feel like eating, reach for water first.  Drinking water also helps you feel full.  Try sipping water before you sit down for a meal and throughout to add volume to your meal.
Build in Splurges: No reason to abstain from all holiday treats, enjoy some just not all.  Instead of eating 4 Christmas cookies at your office, take just 1.

Hopefully these tips will make you feel like this come New Years!
